CHIROPRACTIC

Dr. David Whitty is the Chiropractor practicising here in downtown and once a month at the Souris hospital.He has been in practice for more than 10 years and is a graduate of St. F.X.U. with a science degree and the Canadian Chiropractic College in Toronto.

As with other chiropractors, the focus of  his care is on nuero-musculo- skeletal system, assessing movement patterns throughout the body, determining areas of muscle weakness or limited mobility. Dr. Whitty’s patient population stretches from teens and youths to senoirs. The complaints are musculo-skeletal problems, sports injury and rehabilitation, low back pain, sciatica, hip, knee, ankle, shoulder and neck pain as well as the headaches are the most common areas of involvement. His focus is on addressing the soft tissue(muscle and tendons) and joint mobility. Manipulation of the spine is one of the treatments Dr. Whitty utilizes but not exclusively. Most patients receive soft tissue therapy particularly Active Release Technique® and Graston Technique® or Acupuncture and all are prescribed restorative exercises.

PHYSIOTHERAPY

Corena Hughes graduated  from the University of Toronto with a physiotherapy degree in 1994.  She is a member of the Canadian Physiotheraphy Association and has worked in private practice in Ontario, British Columbia and New Brunswick.
Corena has studied the Pelvic floor dysfunction through the American Physical theraphy Association and operates the bladder clinic at Body works.

Treatments include:

Bladder control for men & women

MASSAGE THERAPY

John Mayne is a Registered Massage Therapists who has graduated from ICT Northumberland College in Halifax, N.S.

Massage therapy is based on your therapist’s in-depth knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathology, which is then applied to your specific health history.

Some of the effects of massage therapy are: increased circulation which promotes healing, decreased muscle tension or spasm, increased oxygen flow to the cells, increased lymphatic function, increased flexibility and pain-free movement, improved posture, reduced heart rate and blood pressure, improved healing through active remedial exercises, and anxiety and stress reduction through relaxation.

NATUROPATHIC

Dr. Tracey Pollardis a licensed Naturopathic doctor. She has been in private practice for more than 5 years in PEI. She graduated from U.P.E.I. in 1998
and received her Doctorate of Naturopathic medicine from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in Toronto, ON. She is also the president of the PEI Association of Naturopathic Doctors.

She consults and treats on a wide array of acute and chronic conditions with various natural therapies to improve and maintain optimal health.
